Description
Tenants Together’s Statewide Tenants’ Rights Hotline provides counseling and information about tenants’ rights. They are a group of tenants’ rights advocates, counselors, and community members, but do not provide legal advice.
Ways to Contact
Check out their Tenant Defense Toolkit to look up information about your issue. For immediate information about protections, text "HELPLINE" to (650) 600-7821. Call the statewide tenant's rights hotline at (888) 495-8020.Â
Process
The hotline is voicemail-based, which means that in order to connect, you will have to call them, leave a voicemail, and one of their hotline counselor volunteers will reach out to you with resources as soon as possible, either by phone or other electronic communication. Leave a voicemail, speaking as slowly and as clearly as you can. Include your name, phone number, city and county that you live in, as well as a description of your issue, including a brief summary of any written documentation or notices that you have received from the landlord (including dates received).
