Housing Rights Committee (HRC) provides non-legal housing counseling on a variety of housing-related issues.

Call 415.703.8634 and leave a voicemail (stating your name and number slowly), and a counselor will return your call from a blocked number. For live phone and in-person drop-in hours, call 415.703.8644 or visit 11 Grove St., San Francisco, CA 94102 Monday to Thursday from 1pm-5pm. For phone counseling only, call 415.947.9085 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9am-12pm. If you live in HUD housing (public housing, Section 8), you can call 415.558.2196 to speak to a counselor.

Process

Call for phone counseling and related advocacy or book an in-person appointment over the phone. Have with you: proof of income, lease, all relevant communications, all court papers or documents from the Rent Board or any government agencies, and, if payment of rent is disputed, receipts or cancelled checks.
