Housing and Economic Rights Advocates (HERA) assists with consumer issues and probate issues, and is a good resource especially for clients without legal status, or with too high of an income for other legal non-profits. Although they are physically located in Oakland, they can help on issues across the Bay Area.

Note: HERA does not currently have local staff on a regular basis at any location except their Oakland office. They also do not have enough staff to offer immediate assistance to someone who drops into their Oakland office. HERA strongly encourages that you phone or email their Oakland office to make an appointment. If you drop-in, you will probably not be served on that day, but you are welcome to leave your name and contact information for a staffer to contact you at a future time.
